Deverb + Discord
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
Sorry it’s been such a damned long time since I posted here, but I’ve been literally swamped. We had a new release over at Positron!, my wife and I had massive legal troubles as the result of some bad judgement concerning what substances we should or shouldn’t take on our vacation, and we’ve been busy-busy-busy getting Deverb and Discord out the door.
I’ll speak to the third point, as that’s what most concerns the visitors to this site. Deverb and Discord are two new VST plug-ins from Audio Damage. Deverb is a dark-ass reverb for gloom ‘n’ doom-oriented tracks, and Discord is a pitchshifter in the vein of the Eventide H910, which I waxed poetically about in an earlier entry on this very site.
We used the brand-spankin’ new 3.0 version of the VSTGUI SDK on these, with PNGs and true alpha blending. I’m pretty proud of the basic and functional user interfaces. Especially now that shadows can go over hash marks without too much drama. (Thank you, PNG-guy, whoever you are!) Both plugs can take MIDI input from your controller for extra fun sound warping. They’re $39.00 each, or $68.00 the pair. That’s really good news for all you Europeans, as the dollar spirals in the toilette bowl prior to our economy’s collapsing in on itself. Anyways, go have a gander at the site in question.
In other news, my next Micronaut record is almost in the can, and we’re sponsoring a remix contest of one of the tracks on the Positron site. The winner gets his remix included on the album. So, go have a listen, and read the missive here: Micronaut Remix Contest
The contest is open to anyone, so whip up something cool and send it in. This is a good way for a beginning producer to get his name out there, because the songs on these Micronaut records almost always get used in various TV shows, including Real World and Road Rules, among many others.
