Oh, Dear sweet baby Jeebus...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

Welcome to my nightmare. That’s a photo of the inside of the synth section of the Sideman. It is all point-to-point. Somewhere in that rat’s nest of components is a ground loop. I think this might be a job for a professional.

Clip the red one.
no-no-no-no... the pink one.

Are you sure you've got an actual ground loop? I'd suspect one or more bad caps (entirely likely given the age)...might not be a bad idea to re-cap the whole kit (and, if necessary, the kaboodle).
And do it quick. I'm waiting for my samples.

It could certainly be a bad cap or 20. Boy, I don't want to do that. There's a lot of 'em in there. You'd really have to see it. This is the most point-to-point wiring I've ever seen in one place.

more than one of these?

Seeing the spinny wheel is interesting... the korg doncamatic uses a similar wheel to generate the patterns.
If I had to guess, I'd say there was roughly three times the p2p wiring in this as in your average L100 or A100. And it isn't neatly laid out like in those cases. Imagine doing your average 808 oscillator as p2p, with no board, just a couple buss wires hanging in the air. Then multiply that times 9 and put it all in a case the size of a shoebox and you might have an idea of what I'm getting at.
It is really frightening. Just the idea of changing one resistor is nerve-wracking. There's so much jank in the way, you can't even see the tube sockets.
