Vintage Japanese Gear Porn...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
Ethan Callender just sent me these scans from Japanese trade brochures, and I thought they were worth putting up here, as sort of a Hard Core Gear Porn extra. Click each image to be taken to the full-sized scan.

This is an image of pretty much the full Yamaha audio line-up, c. 1984 or so. This would be a pretty brittle studio, were it yours. I forgot about the Yamaha keytar.

Another Yamaha brochure, this one a bit earlier. I’d say around 1979-80 or so. I like how the faux-wood endcheeks all match. Notice the endcheek-colored stool. This would make a pretty slick rig, I think.

This is pretty much the same thing, from a bit later, I believe. Note the CS-15 and CS-30, which were not present in the wood panel-thon of the previous brochure.

And the best for last. Here’s a classy one, and the image on the left actuall doesn’t look that different from the Object Of Desiring for many musicians today. The entire MS lineup is featured, along with a fly monitor stand for the Apple IIe. I don’t get the utility lights or the wine glasses, but then again, it was the early 80s. What are you gonna do?
