A short movie made by Dave Pape about [Theo Argiriadis](http://www.tube-electronics.co.uk/), a British tube effect builder guy. Says Dave:

_His workshop sublimates eccentric retro gear porn into a higher form,
something like gynaecological valve art - and after much pestering from me,
he agreed to assemble a little collection of units he's made over the past
few years for me to film._

I really want to hang out with this guy. He not only knows his business, but has really good hair. Check out [this distortion box](https://analogindustries.com/images/blog/aae_distort_box.jpg) he made for Dave. Hit up his website for more info, and pay special attention to that stereo spring 'verb / valve amp. That is a thing of beauty.

The flashplayer with the movie doesn't seem to load in the blog...

Have the latest version of flash installed, and tried it on 3 PCs.

Just to let you know.

Does anyone here use tube equipment? I would be too frightened, myself... tubes are fragile, and expensive, and a lot are hard to find. I guess that may be part of the attraction, creating something that an ordinary person would not be able to create... but I would be too worried to be creative.

Actually, in 20-odd years of professional musicianship, I've found that good tube gear (as opposed to the Behringer Tube-O-Fax Pro 3000) is generally tougher and cleaner sounding than its solid-state sibling. I don't know if it's because tube gear is generally over-engineered, or what, but I just report the facts as I see 'em.
