Audio Damage Pulse Modulator...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

Here is an image of Audio Damage Pulse Modulator, the plugin that will be available free in the next issue of Computer Music. I wasn’t going to spring the screenshot until the issue was out, but I just got issue #101 of CM, and there’s a screenshot of it on the last page, so there’s no point in hiding it now.
As you can see, there are three LFOs; each one can be synced to host (at various musically useful divisions) or free-run from 2Hz on up to audio rate. The “PULSE DEPTH” knobs determine how hard each LFO hits the VCA. The “PULSE SHAPE” knob sweeps from square through forward ramp, reverse ramp, to sine wave at the clockwise position. Using these 7 controls, you can get some really odd moving tremelo patterns.
After the VCA bit, the entire signal goes through the BOOST section, which is our FuzzPlus distortion model. We originally modelled the distortion from the EH pedal this was inspired by, but that distortion sucked, and wasn’t too musical for use with drums, synths, whatever. So we swapped it out with ours. This differs from the EH pedal in one key issue. The EH pedal has two outputs: one for the tremelo section and one for the boost section, and the two don’t have anything to do with each other. We think this was a stupid design flaw, and have corrected it by changing the routing so the tremelo runs through the boost.
This will be on the cover DVD of CM #102, full and uncrippled in any way. The DVD will include VST Windows, VST OSX, and AU OSX, and the OSX versions are Universal Binary. The VST versions have our standard MIDI learn feature common to all our recent products.
We have another product in the works which will come out around the same time. It is called Pulse Filter, and is basically the same engine, with a monster LPF in place of the BOOST section. Price is TBD.

Nice. Looks amazing and I expect it'll be much fun to use.
Any ideas where I can buy the single issue online? Or am I going have to actually leave the house (yikes!)....?
c.
guess i'll be buying my first ever issue of CM haha
congrats, guys - i've noticed you've been getting a LOT of magazine exposure lately, all positive as well (and deserved imho)
anyway, that has to be good for business, nice job, and it's great to see AD mentioned along with 'the big guys' so often in print...really really cool
Won't be too long before we're one of the Big Guys. Except a lot cooler. And more handsome. And charming, of course.
As for buying CM online, you can purchase single issues directly from Futurenet:

Pulse Modulator will be in issue #102, which is the next issue. It will be available for purchase on or around 6/26.

Chris,
would it be possible to buy it in Germany also ? I'm curious about this plugin.

The above link has links for U.K., Europe, and Rest Of World. That encompasses just about everywhere, I think.

yep.. you'll be one of the big guys soon then roger nichols digital will be giving you a call w/an offer!! ;)
congrats on teh exposure. will keep my eyes open for the mag.
theres just one place in tokyo it might show up so I guess I'll netorder it.
wow. those knobs are a freakin' beauty to behold.
Looks awesome! Will the filter version have the LFOs controlling the filter?
Yeah. The "Depth" knobs on the Pulse Filter will hit the filter cutoff frequency, while the "BOOST" knob is replaced with "RESONANCE." It is exactly the same, otherwise. We made a special filter for this, of a new(ish) topology, and it is _whacking.

Do you guys have an audio clip demo of this up anywhere?
I'll put up some samples in a bit.

Is it me, or are your ui designs getting slicker and more refined? Nice work. It looks beautiful.
Mike
Wait 'til you see what I have on the burner next. It only has 4 controls, but I think it is the best UI I've done yet.
On a side note, a friend of mine that does CGI for movies and TV shows sent me some tutorial DVDs that garnered me some Skillz in the 3D department; thus, you'll see a sizable improvement in our 3D UIs from this point forward. Pulse Modulator (and Pulse Filter) were done right on the cusp of this event, and thus don't show the real benefits, but the next product really does.

.....holding breath......
Will this plugin be available for download/purchase directly from this site... at some point?
No. It will only be available as part of the CM Studio software suite, which is included on the cover DVD of every issue of Compter Music.
The sister plugin, Pulse Filter, will be available for purchase in a couple weeks.
