As the local head of the Musical Computing subset of the Society For Creative Anachronism, I'm always on the lookout for something fun to start each meeting with. I came across a NOS unopened copy of MacDrums on eBay last week, and couldn't pass it up for $3.99 or whatever it was. It just showed up in the mail, and the last two sentences on the cover copy started me on a fit of giggles that is still going strong, nigh on ten minutes later.

But wait, there's more! It comes with a MacDrums wrist sweat band, to keep your mousing hand dry while you type in the tom-n-double-kick intro to "Hot For Teacher." I think more software should come with clothing accessories; it's an overlooked area, to be sure. Ableton underwear, Cubase t-shirts. I suppose ProTools would come with kneepads.

**UPDATE:** Apparently, my stable of old Macs is too modern for this program; if that image above doesn't bring back fond memories, perhaps the paperclip I needed to un-bend to get the disk out of the drive will. I can't begin to put my disappointment in to words. Wouldn't work in the PB100. Wouldn't work in the PB165C. Wouldn't work in the IIci. I guess I need to scare up a 512K or something. Great. That should be easy.

protools would come with a hemorrhoids o-ring.

Wow, I only barely remember that one. Did it have sampled sounds?

hilarious.

Enlighten us, CR - what clothing would come with the AD plugins, were they to ship in a box?

Also, I suppose, Max MSP would simply come with fabric, thread, and a needle to make your own clothes.

**Chris Randall** (2007-06-13):

The AD plugins wouldn't come with clothing at all. They'd come with brass knuckles.

Damn. I love the drunk Mac face. Those were the days. BTW — Do you think Logic should ship with crotch-less panties?

**ecallender** (2007-06-14):

Cubase could ship with some overstock glow-sticks that work for... like 13 seconds.

**Chris Randall** (2007-06-14):

No, the glow sticks are for FL Studio.

Whats the oldest OS you are using? 6?

**Chris Randall** (2007-06-14):

I use a heavily modified version of the 6.5 Network Install available on the Apple site for the Powerbooks. The IIci has 7.5.

The disk that MacDrums is on is bootable, though. I can't tell what system it is, but I imagine it's 3, considering the recommended Macs are 512, Plus, and SE. Needless to say, the error in the picture is from trying to boot the MacDrums disk. When I just try to run MacDrums, either from floppy or HD, I get the bomba.

Yo. When, not if, when you get this working pleeeze post a review.

**Lindon** (2007-06-15):

So it's agreed then ProTools would come with knee-pads, the hemeroid O-Ring, and the more expensive versions with some sort of "personal lubricant"(so you didn't feel where they were putting it....)

**noisegeek** (2007-06-15):

Does that mean that LE and M-Powered would come with one of those giant fist dildoes so you can rape yourself at home?
