Pack it up...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

I suppose if you’re gonna be really, really good at something, it might as well be bayan, right? I mean, I’d rather be good at playing a bayan than, say, insurance adjusting or something. This fellow, Vitaly Dmitriev, pwns hard on the bayan. Bach never sounded so reedy. Or fugue-ey. Or something.

(Thanks to Jeff Laity, who should probably be working and not surfing the InterTubes.)

it looks like Vitaly came up with some of his own lyrics. he sure seems to be mouthing something.

He's the Glenn Gould of bayan.

Surprisingly ,The piece sounds better on the accordion then on a huge cathedral organ!

That is sure a crazy looking accordion.

It's not an accordion. It's a bayan. In the same way that a clarinet is not an oboe.

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia: "Register switches may be operated with the chin on some larger models."

He does seem to be operating switches with his chin, but he's definitely singing too.

Also, I'm gonna go with that could could rip off your head with this left hand.

    All in all, pretty cool.

"When an accordion just isn't big enough, try a Bayan."
