I have to drive my wife to the airport in Portland today, and while I’m in PDX I’m gonna visit some music stores and what-not, so this’ll be an open thread. The subject: what’s your whacky desire for a plug-in? Anything goes. The weirder the better, IMO. What’s not out there that you desperately need? What do you think could be done better? What’s too fucking expensive? Bring it all.

I would like to have max/msp as a plugin, Reaktor style.
I would go quite dubiously mental for a filter plugin that incorporated a ring modulator (with useful-if-non-canon things like a sum/difference blend control) and envelope follower, either of the latter being possible to switch off if required.
In my dreams I am also able to 'lift the lid' Fishphones-style to reveal a small set of more esoteric controls, one of which turns out to be a toggle switch labelled "musical / fucked" and one, perhaps, which switches the ring-modulator in front of / behind the filter stage.
I would be pretty happy with this

A modular multi-fx plugin, just like a modular synth but with effects. Modulation matrix, step sequencer, lfo's, the works.
Nice selection of effects, with multiple routing options.
1. WINE/JACK based wrapper for running Windows VSTs in Intel Mac hosts.
2. A granular effect based on the defunct Heizenbox.
I want a synth with a many many presets that 50% sounds good, that isn't synchrosoft protected and has a nice way to browse the presets.

I was thinking a step beyond sbmx. A pair of black box products named 'musical' and 'fucked'. These are non-technical boxes with only 4 knobs that have esoteric labels so I dont need to understand compression ratio or reverb pre-delay to make them work. The knobs control 4 ways to make things more fucked or more musical.
Fucked could include some mixture of ringmod, bad grain delay, metasonix fart sound, grindhouse distortion, atonal pitch shift, etc
Musical could would fix common problems in mixes like an Ozone preset with only 4 knobs. Maybe a little bass side-chain compression, tube sizzle, some stereo widening, some reverb, etc.
I would like a plug in called "My own horn" with just one massive button on it that says "TOOT!"
