Well, it looks cool, anyways...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

Got my PoCo X8 today. Got it all set up, shit installed, etc. Then I discovered something which I wasn’t aware of (and TC by no means advertises): the Powercore software is not Vista-compatible. At all.

But that blue logo thing sure is nice.

This is, of course, 9/10 my fault, as I just assumed that a product like Powercore, from a company as large as TC, would be, like, ready to go and shit, especially since Vista has been out for, what, a year now? The 1/10th not my fault is that they should maybe mention this fact on their voluminous web presence. No matter. As $1499 rack blanks go, this is definitely one.

The page below says: "Windows XP or higher":

I'd say it's not even 1/10th your fault picking that up. I'm running Vista x64 here with some annoying side effects. Cakewalk Rapture won't start in 32 bit mode in Cubase 32 bit. In Cubase 64 bit Battery 3 won't load while all the other NI plugs I got do. Sigh.....

The Audio Damage plugs sure works just fine, so I tend to use them a lot. Replicant is amazing on vocals when remixing =)

    All the best!

The final version of Vista has been out for 17 months, and yet these guys haven't gotten around to making their stuff work with it? Useless fucks.

So it does, Spirou, so it does. I'm off the hook. It is 100% TC's fault.

I won't mention that it's been a year now since Vista came out, it is rock-fucking-solid with everything I own, and is a demonstrably better operating system. This is getting completely fucking gay. As a software developer (I think I may have mentioned that once or twice?) I know that it isn't easy to stay on top of this shit. However, I do know it is absolutely possible, and the obligation of the developer.

And Don, you can slum it with an H4500. Almost the same thing, in a fatter box. All the best stuff in the Eclipse is the older patches anyways. The Eclipse, for those that don't know, clones the entirety of the H3000, and a fair chunk of the H4500; it also makes a fantastic A/D/A convertor if you need extra. Easily the quality of my Rosetta.

Nihmbus, I use Macs for web surfing, email, iChat, that sort of thing (which they are frightfully good at.) I use a PC for graphics and music (which they are frightfully good at, and less prone to this kind of nonsense.)

by the way Chris, if you ever get it working - my personal favourite option poco plug is the assimilator.

you should have got the BAE in the shot, you've got a gearporn rack.

oh and if anyone wants to start the slummin' it wars, here's my gambit: http://www.soundarc.net/slum.jpg

Seriously I think I'm just going to throw a eclipse and a 2016 on my credit card and be done with it, take that debt to my grave.
