Ricochet in CM...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

I have to admit that I’m a little nervous sending products to CM these days; we’ve had a more-or-less unbroken string of good reviews from them, and eventually, the inevitable will occur.

That said, we can’t complain about Computer Music #125 even a tiny bit. Ricochet received a 10/10 perfect score, and the Performance and Value tchotchkes. iZotope RX received the same score, one page later, so ’grats to them, and thanks to CM.

    Ricochet is a great product. There is always the chance that their enamored with the value in today devalued dollar days (An AD plug costs the same as a beer in the UK now?) If you're really curious, release a more expensive product and see if things change. In general I would consider the AD products to be a good value at twice their normal prices.

    Perhaps you should do what Apple does and start pontificating on how you are democratizing the audio software market.

    BTW. Rx, while a bit weird interface wise, is a great tool for audio cleanup. It finally delivers some of the more technically advanced tools that this digital age of ours was supposed to usher in. It has worked wonders on the field recordings I've been doing recently.

    Well done guys...I think you can expect your great sounding, well designed and fairly priced plugins will continue to be well received..

    magic combo.

    @giantm:

    The thing is, if we doubled our prices, they'd be the price of two beers in England, but would be quite expensive in America. Europeans currently get the benefit of our worthless dollar, but our dollar ain't worthless here; it still buys the same shit. I briefly pondered the idea of just keeping our prices the same, but switching to Euros instead of dollars, but that was back when the dollar was $1.20 the Euro. Now, it would be exactly the same as doubling our prices, and roughly half of our user base is American.

    Congrats, your products are very reasonably priced and very well thought out.

    One of the strong features regarding AD plugins is that very few revisions are required once they are released. No need for users to deal with a constant stream of updates. They just work (and I use Audio Units! so thanks for doing those despite your struggles with them). Not to mention they work well for grindhouse.

    yeh i got that CM 'hot off the press' on Wednesday morning - nice one, it is a very nice plugin - the ad looks cool too (although I do especially like any form of mathematical/minimalist looking renderings so maybe I'm biased :p)

    I have the PSP 608 and Logic's Delay Designer and I find myself using Ricochet a lot more than those two multi-delays.
