It's mine! Bwahahaha!

Now I just have to wait a couple hours until the end of the workday...

Refresh Monkeys? Brutal, but true. I've been looking forward to this one.

I am loving this already. Definitely different from Devastator or Camel Phat. The band separation is a really nice thing to have.

My only criticism so far is that the Engine display, which looks very cool, is pretty difficult to read on my 24" display. I guess it doesn't matter much, as it could be an unlabeled slider that accomplished the same thing and would work just as well.

At any rate, great job on this. A fine addition to your line of FX.

**Chris Randall** (2008-05-29):

Yeah, it's difficult to make something that will look equally good across all display possibilities. I personally do the graphics design on a pair of 17" monitors, and then look at everything on my iMac. I am pondering getting a Mac Pro and a whacking big Cinema display instead, though. This will inform the design somewhat.

Thanks for the kind comments, anyhow.

Yeah, I can imagine how tough doing the GUI is. Way too many scenarios to consider. Which reminds me, I really need to get some Auratones or Mixcubes.....

That one criticism aside, the GUI is easy on the eyes though.

Sorry to have started off the response thread with a criticism, kinda not cool.

I have zero complaints about the functionality and sound of this though. I'm gonna get a lot of mileage out of this one! It's sitting nicely in a mix in the background as I write this. It's reminding me of my old pal DPole, in a good way.

I have the Dell 30" display + a crummy old 19" screen. I got my Dell for $1099 refurbished on their site, about 1/2 the price of the Apple. They're identical except the Dell is black and the Apple is aluminum.

Kombinat is awesome. Even Apple Loops sound hip through that plug.

Looks like a sentence about tap dots from the Ricochet manual wandered its way into the Kombinat manual. Good thing nobody reads those things.

Whoops.

Whoops x2. That's my fault, mostly. I start writing manuals using a previous product's manual so that I have the same formatting and stuff ready to go. Usually the MIDI section is exactly the same from one product to the next because our MIDI stuff is the same from one product to the next.

The screen-size thing is an interesting conundrum at this point in the evolution of computers. We have people using 12" iBooks who tell us that our UIs take up too much space, and we have people with 30" LCDs who tell us that our UIs are too small. I personally use 3 17" LCDs set at 1280x1024 for both my main PC and my music PC.

In the not-too-distant future there will be more support at the OS level for scalable GUI elements so that you can resize everything to suit your displays, your needs, and your eyes. (Now that I'm over 40 I can personally attest that the latter can become a significant concern!) That will cause interesting issues for elements that use pre-rendered bitmaps, e.g. most of the knobs in our plug-ins, but it's certainly the direction that things will go.

Anyway, as CR said, thanks for the kind comments and for your support of our little enterprise.

Congratulations Guys!

Thinking 1920's going to be the standard res for the next two years.

Still looking forward to that instrument.
