Dr. Device Screencast...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

[Dr. Device Overview...](http://www.vimeo.com/1603454?pg=embed&sec=1603454) from [Audio Damage](http://www.vimeo.com/audiodamage?pg=embed&sec=1603454) on [Vimeo](http://vimeo.com/?pg=embed&sec=1603454).

Yeah, you better get used to these bitches but quick, because I’ll be pumping ’em out for the next couple weeks, until everything that needs to be covered has been.

I wanted to get the hardest ones out of the way first, so this one, which is Dr. Device obviously, takes care of that. Again, questions, comments, and criticism appreciated. The direct download of the MOV file (75 megs) can be scored in the lower right-hand side of the Vimeo page, and if you’re a glutton for punishment, the YouTube hi-res iteration is here.

Ricochet is next, so if there’s something specific you want to see in that one, now’s the time to tell me.

Great overview. The only thing I would change is I would add more sounds while describing each control (i.e. having the drum loop run the entire time you are showing off each filter, or comparing Digi Delay to Bucket Brigade). The final part with everything working at once is great, though, and has convinced me that I wanted this more than I originally thought.

Also, the direct MOV link is down.

Wow, just a reminder that I've barely scratched the surface with Dr. Device. Thanks for that.

I guess the direct download link expires. You can get it via the Vimeo page; it is in the lower right-hand corner.

Viz. the other stuff lizard mentioned, the problem is that if I go through all of the filter styles, and then go through all of the other sound iterations, the video is easily 20 minutes long, as opposed to 10 (which is, I think, still too long.) Once I get the main videos done, I'm going to do a couple general usability videos, which will have multiple AD effects working in concert. Since I make a lot of music, and since the only effects I use for everything but compression and EQ are ours (for those, Sonalksis is my go-to), and since most of these effects are designed with my specific workflow in mind, I have a lot of experience tone-shaping with our product line, so I thought that might be interesting to watch.

Those videos will necessarily be less verbose (if they need voice-overs at all) and more intensive.

Yes, I was just thinking the same when I watched it. It's brilliant as it is - replacing the manual in most cases. But I felt you played around more in the Replicant-video, and I think that was the most interesting part.

20-minutes tutorials won't make anyone happy, I agree with you there. But some insight of how you guys are working with the plugs would be great. Dare I say power user? No. I don't.

That was a good overview, gives a pretty clear idea of everything in there.

I look forward to the general use videos, that should be fun to see.

Sounds very interesting to me. As someone who makes music as a hobby i always find it insightfull to see someone who makes a living of music showing their methods and general modus operandi. Especially when i own some of the gear thats being demonstrated, ala AD plugins!

Looking forward to the Ricochet video as that is one of your plugins that i havent figured out yet entirely.

Yeah, nice job on this one, Chris. I have Dr. Device but haven't really used it much. I'll confess that at first blush it seemed a bit more like a toy--not in a bad way, but it seemed more like a fun thing to mess around with rather than a go-to plug with a lot of utility. Having seen this vid I think I'll be using it a lot more.

So in other words these tutorials are apparently doing what you wanted them to....
