[Automaton Overview Pt. 1 - Sequencer...](http://vimeo.com/1680737?pg=embed&sec=1680737) from [Audio Damage](http://vimeo.com/audiodamage?pg=embed&sec=1680737) on [Vimeo](http://vimeo.com/?pg=embed&sec=1680737).

Okay, here's the first of three screencasts about Automaton. The last couple minutes give a quick demo of the plugin in action. I also say the word "nifty" three times and "trippy" once. It's funny what you notice after the fact. Anyhow, full-rez MOV is available to download from the Vimeo page as always, 68 megs. YouTube "high resolution" iteration is [here.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rokVYptkW4&fmt=6)

We have friends from Arizona visiting tomorrow, so I'll do the other two on Monday.

This video thing is a great idea. I own a few of your plugs but that video just made think "yes, I must buy that".

Works exactly like I hoped it would and is so geeky it hurts, in a good way. Like a Reaktor thingy with snazzy graphics.

**Chris Randall** (2008-09-07):

Yeah, this is about the nerdiest plugin we've made, or will make. There's a real danger it'll get in to Ronin territory, where everyone is like "well, that's cool, but I'm not gonna buy it, kkthnxbai." But if it does well, we have a couple other ideas up our sleeve that use the same sort of format.

So "we'll see" is the name of the game there. In any event, we're totally done with major coding. As you can plainly see, I'm using the AU for that demonstration. All that's left is some tidying up of graphics and such, presets, manual, and a full test of the retail copy and we'll be good to go. I imagine you'll be able to buy it by this time next week, unless the Coding Gods don't cotton to whatever auger Adam provides. (I usually recommend the black cat bone/John The Conquerer root offering, but Adam seems to prefer waving the dead chicken over his keyboard.)

Boing! I have wood.

I'll be getting it. Even though it might well turn out to be more of a geeky toy than anything that I would find musically useful, I've spent way more than that on geeky toys in the past, and I can't imagine that I wouldn't get fifty bucks worth of entertainment our of it, even if I never wind up using it in a track. Also, I hope it does well enough commercially to inspire you guys to produce whatever those other things up your sleeve that you mentioned are.

I'm not a coder myself, but, word on the street is that the coding gods find burnt offerings of vintage computer equipment particularly delectable. I recommend making sure you do it in a well-ventilated area, though. Burning a mint BeBox while chanting the forgotten slogans of the fanbois of bygone days would probably guarantee success in any coding endeavor.

I just watched the video, and I have to sat that it seems really well thought out. I'm also happy to see that the wrap option made it in.
