My wife and I got season tickets to the Oregon Symphony and the first concert was on Sunday, Beethoven's 9th. I'm continually stunned by the chops that dude had. He's all like "okay, I've got one more in me, so I'm gonna lay down some stink for you guys..." The build-up that starts in the beginning of the third movement and continues more or less unabated until the end, the archetype of the never-ending trance snare roll, is fucking unbelievable. Just thinking that he did it all stone deaf makes it all that much more amazing.

Before the concert, we went and looked at some potential places for our eventual move to PDX. What with having my studio/office, my wife's office, and a frakkin' great boatload of product for the label, our needs are somewhat peculiar. I'd prefer to just outright buy something, but apparently Warren Buffet couldn't get a damn mortgage now, let alone my skinny white ass. But like any problem, I imagine if we throw enough money at it, it'll sort of solve itself. I _may_ be looking for an outside studio to house my gear, though, depending on what we end up with. (I'm sure that comment will engender all sorts of "hey, Chris, you're more than welcome to keep all your music shit at my house" emails.)

Anyhow, it was back to Real Work on Monday, as we begin the design process for our next product. This will necessarily be a truncated work week, as I have a dentist appointment Tuesday, and leave for NAMM on Friday morning. The subject of this open thread is our usual "hey, what would you like Audio Damage to make next" question we generally ask at this juncture.

i'm still preoccupied with something the slices and gates rhythmically. bigseq is a great product in that direction. but, i find gates terribly inspiring against chord progressions, loops and beat fragments. i want more control. over durations and releases.

also, i still love vocoders. now, i haven't a clue what goes into that manner of plug, but, i find logic's evoc24 a bit icy, the korg synths don't please me either. orange was kinda ok. i can muster the warmth that's in my head from from my elektrix warp factory. but man, that's a hassle. the old roland sound. that's what im looking for. something to thicken up vocals.

so thanks for listening and for the great work you guys have already done. it's a great feeling to be making music that includes a unique palette of sounds and effects that you know only a handful of people have yet to discover. you're making the whole process fun again.

How about a modular expandable FX rack type plug in, that you can add additional modules to in the future.

Something like a VST equivalent of a guitar pedal board, sans-the amp modelling. Simply FX.

Like the NI Kore system, but not. Basically, you could start off with the virtual board, then add a tremolo, delay, reverb, and more esoteric FX as time goes on.

Rough Rider's sister EQ. A pay product though.

Big Seq 2

**fabi** (2008-09-30):

yeah, i was hoping for bigseq 2, too. :-)

**paul** (2008-09-30):

Must say I'd quite like to see BigSeq 2 as well.

Failing that how about an audio looping plug in? I use this feature in Dub Station quite a lot but it is abit limited.

Be great to see something where you could have longer loop times, vary the start/end points...hmmmm...BigSeq 2 with a loop function?

maybe more fsu...physics based bouncing ball delay with visual feedback.

How about your first instrument? Id be prepared to wait, and pay a lot more, for a software equivalent of the machinedrum with your replicant and automaton algorithms built in. With a built in sequencer as well. And filters. Oh, and a compressor.

That would be damn good.

An EQ would be cool as well as its about the only effect type that you guys dont have in your range.

**MitchK1989** (2008-09-30):

a drum machine from audio damage would be awfully kickass. I doubt it would have replicant or automaton built in though (and I don't think it should be. That would mean anyone wanting replicant for other uses and the drum machine would be paying for the same functionality twice...)

I look forward to bigseq 2 myself...

As far as brand new ideas... How about a tape delay and/or spring reverb? I'd love to see a space echo emulation from audio-damage...

**stevo83** (2008-09-30):

Good point Mitch but you could incorporate cut down versions of both that only work within the instrument, not as external effects. Give em a taste and theyll want more no?

Speaking of cool new stuff ima gonna gett me a one of thees:
