We haven't done this in a while, and on a personal note I have to refresh my iPod for my drive to San Francisco next week, so I'm on the prowl for music. What's the New Hotness on your playlists? Anything out there that nobody knows about but should? Do you have a release of your own you want to pimp? Now's the time.

Okay, you guys know better. A little editorial content, please. I can compile a list of releases as well as anybody; put a "why" in your post.

Gasp - "If only..."

great music. sort of minimal but a little dark but w/some really nice production. a great mix of textures and hip hoppish but weirder. sort of like scorn meets chris clark's "body riddle" but mellower, darker. good driving music to day dream to as well.

also, for driving i really like Miles Davis by way of bill laswell. his version of "in a silent way" is amazing. sonically there's so much more there. it's called "panthallassa - the music of miles davis" or something like that. it's one of my favorite pieces of recorded music.

I also really dig the "shadow Huntaz" (funckarma) instrumental versions.

Lately, Fink's 'Distance & Time' has gotten a lot of play on my ipod. It's a definite diversion from most ninja tunes records....it's pretty much an acoustic album with a lot of attention to vocals, but it fits the fall season rather well.

Other than that, it's fall, so I drag out a lot of stuff like IRM's 'Echo the Moon' and actually, the Most Dangerous Races' 'Inventing Shadows' has gotten its fair share of play. But these are both albums you are probably very familiar with.

Okay, enough with the deadmau5. No offense, but Joel lost any rep he had with me when he gave up his incredibly well-programmed IDM in favor of Trance-O-Matic (now with Autopilot Upgrade.) In any event, I (and I imagine most anyone here with an email account) am well versed in the deadmau5 assault.

(This will no doubt engender a new e-mail assault, I'm sure.)

Not new at all, but if you've never listened to it before, you might really dig Fela Kuti's "Music Is The Weapon Of The Future." Something that's had my ear lately, that and a lot of dub.

If need be new, what kind of music are you up for? Strikes me it went a bit trance-y in here last time you asked, too. Must go hand in hand with Wade's theory of the synthiness of open threads.
