Various Things...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

First off, thanks to everyone for making this our best 24 hours ever in the history of Audio Damage. We’re especially pleased/surprised since Automaton is an experimental plug-in, so this means you’re willing to (a) take a chance on stuff you might not see using under normal circumstances, and (b) support our stranger endeavors. We realize these sorts of plugs aren’t for everyone, so a group hug is in order. Our thank-you for this is, of course, Rough Rider, which will be baked as soon as Adam decompresses, and I take my camping trip I’ve been promising myself all summer.

In other news, the AI redesign is coming along nicely. My lovely and talented wife is porting the current site’s JSP to a bit more happenin’ and useful PHP, which is no simple task. I’ll post more about this in the near future.

That’s it for now; I’m wiped out from this weekend. Thankfully, Automaton mostly survived its first contact with the genpop, only one minor fix was necessary for the OSX side of things, and now we’re cooking with steam again.

Congrats on the big rollout. It's nice to see a response like this for a design that really is "new", as opposed to yet another emulation.

CR - I think yourself and Adam just 'get it right', which is why the punters will come back time and time again. The designs are right, the ideas are right, the prices are right, but most importantly the philosophies are right. I'm not blowing smoke up your (collective) arse for the sake of it, but I can't think of another software music-tool developer with a philosophy like Audio Damage's.

    "as soon as Adam decompresses"

    Haw!

Congratulations, folks. I wondered how many people would be turned off by Automaton's straight-up weirdness; apparently the answer is "not many."

Just want to mention that Automaton is probably the coolest plug-in I've bought in a long time. It will feature prominently all over my music going forward. Thanks a tonne guys! Keep up with the left-of-centre work!

    Congrats!

On the JSP-PHP port...has your wife considered a framework like CodeIgniter? Bit of a learning curve, but development can go much, much faster...

She uses Smartie (Smarty? Smartee?) but otherwise eschews templates. She's old-school.

I wasn't planning on buying Automaton until I saw the video guides. Then I realized "wow, this is actually useful".

Then I figured "well, I'm going to get Rough Rider for free, so I might as well buy something else, too - that's '3 plugins for $100'".

    So I bought Kombinat, too.

    Keep up the great work!
