I had to spend all day doing various non-music-related things. This unfortunately entailed me getting up at 4:45 in the blessed A.M., so now that I'm done I'm in no shape to post anything interesting. (I got in to the music industry primarily because it hardly ever involves getting up early.)

So, today is a wash, but for the coming week, development continues on BigSeq2. We're making good headway on the UI, which is by far the hardest part of this plug-in. I'll also be doing a couple screencasts this week. I'll do Rough Rider tomorrow (probably) and Kombinat (probably) later in the week.

And finally, I just got a notification that I'll _finally_ get my stimulus check. There was a problem with the IRS database that made them think that I didn't deserve one. I've spent the last several months sending letters and typing in forms for the 15 beaurocracies involved in fixing the problem. Apparently one of them took and I should get the check in the next couple days, according to them. Now the big decision is who, in this fine industry of ours, will be the lucky recipient of my economic stimulations.

wow. you are one determined tax payer. i can only imagine the phone trees you had to wade through to even find out the correct addresses to send letters to.

I guess my next task will be to get them to add a zero to that check.

When it comes to matters government, I'm actually not that determined usually. But it was $1200, and I wasn't getting it because it was their fucking clerical error. That's just wrong.

Same thing happened to me with the stimulus check. They decided I hadn't payed my taxes (I had) and so they applied the stimulus check to it. Unfortunately, at the same time a different dept cashed my actual check and they sat around and waited.

Long story short, it took about a total of 6 hours on the phone for someone to finally say, "Yeah, we were confused so we just kept all the money. We'll send the check out in 8 weeks."

Meeglosh,

I happen to work in the same studio as the designer of said AT-101 and I can tell you it is gorgeous. Simon (the techy responsible) has spent a considerable amount of time with our original Fairchild making sure his is as near identical as is possible. He even had a hand in getting the tube people to start making the necessary tubes for it. It's been a labour of love for him for as long as I've known him, now if only I could find a spare £13,000...

Nice one Chris-

Looking forward to those screencasts. I have a pretty good handle on those two plugs, but it always comes in handy- I have always found new ideas from watching those vids.

The one I am really looking forward to is the Discord screencast. I love the sounds, but my best work with it has always happened on accident. No doubt, I think I must be hitting myself with the stupid stick before I use it... as it seems as if it would be straightforward enough. However, I would love to see the screencast from the developer's point of view.

Pardon my igorance, but what's stimulus check?

I don't think we have anything like it overehere anyway but I'd still like to know.

I'd vote for either Little Phatty or some kind of UAD-2 for 1200$ :).

btw, how's Mopho? I could use one for my Yamaha wind controller (if I could play it and if it didn't look really erm ... gay)

**Chris Randall** (2008-10-21):

"Stimulus check" is the modern equivalent of bread and circuses. When our government has really fucked up badly and created a recession, they send us a bit of our tax money back (or, in actuality, they borrow it from us at 0% interest and then loan it back to us, and we don't have a choice in the matter) so we don't complain too loudly.

The point of a stimulus check is for you to go spend it, thus stimulating the economy, and hence the name. The problem is that it never really works like that, because most people in America have fairly large credit card bills. So the stimulus check goes to pay for shit that was already consumed.

I, however, have no credit card bills, so I actually get to stimulate something.

Sounds like a good idea. I wish the british government would give me back some the extortionate amount i pay in tax.
