Just a general update on the State Of Things 'round these parts. In no particular order:

1\. The AU port of Ronin is hideously problematic, as we feared. (This is the main reason we deprecated it in the first place.) However, it seems that the game of Whack-A-Mole that Adam has been playing for the last two weeks is drawing to a close. Only one major problem is outstanding, and provided no other problems pop in to being when it is fixed (which is what has been happening) I should have a working AU out to the testers here in a day or two. Then we have to roll the fixes from the AU in to the VSTs, and address a couple other little things. It's getting there, though.

2\. Somewhat concurrent (but not necessarily so) with the Ronin release, the AD site will get a complete facelift and a minor reorganization.

3\. Work proceeds apace on the RT60 stuff. We've upped the tempo a bit for the next couple songs, which is a bit of a relief after living in the 65-80 range for the entire lifespan of the band. I've also got one complete working example of the LED lighting, which I will probably demonstrate at the Live meetup I spoke about two posts ago. I'm very happy with the Arduino/Shiftbrite combination right now, and the lighting is actually controlled from Live, via Pd (which can talk directly to the Arduino.) I'll do a complete post about how I've pulled this off in the near future.

It occurs to me that a new visitor to this site would be completely flummoxed by the entirety of this post. "WTF is this dude talking about? AD? RT60? Ronin?"

You could always add a glossary :P

**Subliminal Fusion** (2009-07-13):

Or just use the ABBR tag - http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_abbr.asp

**Chris Randall** (2009-07-13):

I could do that if, for instance, I liked having cocks rammed in my eyes. Since I don't, I won't.

Well, big thanks to you and Adam for enduring the headaches to bring back Ronin. I for one will show my appreciation (since I'll get the update free) by buying another AD product that I don't yet have...like Eos...

I say we go the other way and invent jargon just to dissuade new visitors. Make 'em earn it. Neophytes are dicks. In anything. Always. I think we should make it like a reverse Logan's Run where the young and new get hunted down.

On the serious, I am going to be hanging on your every word when you explain the lighting rig. I'm gonna bookmark that shit so hard.

p.s. Cocks ramming in eyes image? Loving it.

**Chris Randall** (2009-07-13):

I am right now looking at a working AU of Ronin. The OSX VST seems to be a little balky now, but I _think_ the AU is all good.

EDIT: Okay, I now have all three versions that appear to work, with a couple exceptions of fixes that haven't been rolled in to the Windows VST. Major testing begins tomorrow. We'll do a wide test with this by just swapping out the installers in the store, so those of you that already own Ronin can take a swing at the new one and see if you can break it. I'll post here and to the AD RSS feed when we've done that.

Best comment in ages!

Based on CR's earlier post about the Shiftbrites I just had to get some to play with (as if I don't have all my meager free time already taken up by a zillion other hobbies), along with an Arduino board. Looks super fun. Can't wait to see what CR comes up with.

CR -

You're on Twitter, right? What's your handle? Am I missing a link somewhere? I just went to twitter.com/chrisrandall and it wasn't you. I just started on Twitter a few days ago under the band name and I am finding it surprisingly not awful at all so far.

BP's publishing company is called Every Fleeting Thought Is A Pearl. This is a quote from a sardonic line in an Elvis Costello song. It predates Twitter, but pretty much describes it entirely.

Every fleeting thought isn't a pearl, unfortunately, as you'll rapidly learn once you start using Twitter more extensively. In any event, I'm Chris_Randall on that fine service.
