While We're On The Subject Of Samples...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

All kinds of fun stuff happening in Sample-Land the last couple weeks. Sonic Couture (replete with shiny new web-site) has Skiddaw Stones, which I’m actually moving from my Mac to my music PC right this very minute, and will theoretically have a mini-review of over the weekend.

Also note that Sonic Couture is running a Buy-One-Get-One-Free promotion until September 9th. Enter the code YJ5FLTYPSG at checkout and you get to pick another product. And on top of that, if you buy anything at all, you get the Devilfish 303 sample set, the which is farking excellent.

Our good friend Hugo, DBA Goldbaby, has released his Custom DMX set, which I’ve also got but haven’t tried yet. Yeah, you’re beginning to sense a pattern here, I imagine. A mini-review of this will also be coming over the weekend, but I like his style. I’d like to see some recursive Goldbaby sets. 909->tape->DMX->tape->vinyl. Something like that.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Beatserve will have something new in the not-too-distant future, but first The Atomica Project has to do a short tour, which starts tomorrow at Martyr’s in Chicago. I strongly recommend you go see some quality chill-out music. Dates on the TAP page.

And finally, if anyone in Portlandia (or surrounding Cascadia) has a 909 and/or 808 they’d be willing to loan/rent me for a week, I’d hug them and squeeze them and pet them and call them “George.” (Too oblique a reference?) Seriously, I’d be most grateful.
