The Usual Monday Bullshit...

From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

Some updates…

1. All the Varese and Schaeffer shirts have shipped, so if you ordered one, it is on the way. PNW should arrive tomorrow, with the rest of the US in the next couple days, and UK orders should start arriving on Thursday, I would imagine.

2. The new Audio Damage site is done, except for some testing and fixing of things that the testers find. We’ll be putting it up tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on how things go.

3. Tattoo is getting close to done on the Windows side. Everything has been built and is working now, including the MIDI note-stepper thing that was asked for, which actually turned out to be kind of nifty. You just whack C5 to step it forward, and D5 resets it to step 1. I imagine this will be useful for the tweaky types. The only thing that remains is to fine tune some graphics issues and tune up the synths themselves. Once that’s done, we’ll move on to the Mac side of things.

Are you waiting until the Mac version is done before offering it up for release?

Looking forward to it. Is it gonna have a Master Transpose? No biggie if not, worst comes to worst assign to a macro knobby in Abes.

so it's not gonna be 64 bit then? (ducks flying shoe)

can't wait to check it out. really curious about the midi note out.

I wait with bated breath. Actually I don't know what that even means, and more accurately I'll be waiting with alcoholic breath. So I'll just wait patiently and quietly in the corner... until Tattoo arrives.

"Bated breath" = you're holding your breath (as in your breathing is "abated"). "Waiting with bated breath" means you're so excited/whatever that you can't breathe.

If you ever write "baited breath", people will know you're dumb.

See also: "pouring over" something. It's "poring over".

@Computer Controlled: we always release both platforms simultaneously. There are several reasons for this. In no particular order: 1) it's simpler to have the beta-testing of both platforms take place simultaneously; 2) sometimes work on the Mac version necessitates changes in the Windows version; 3) if we did staggered releases the Mac folks would be grumpy with us; 3a) if we did staggered releases we'd have to explain to the Mac folks why they can't buy the Mac version yet even though the website says the product is available; 4) it's simpler to do the packaging (i.e. creation of the installers and stuff) simultaneously; 5) it's simpler to make the necessary website updates if both versions are ready to go at the same time; 6) this is the way we've always done it and I guess we've never thought of a good reason to do it otherwise.

The reason we do the Windows version first, should you be curious, is mostly because I prefer the Microsoft development tools and because my PC is better than my Mac. It's kind of arbitrary, in other words.

@intelliko: sorry, no. If we started adding "meta" controls like that we'd feature-creep our way to insanity.

@boobs: the MIDI note out is just that: it spits out a MIDI note message with a duration of a 1/32nd for each drum hit, be it programmed or randomly generated. That's about the size of it. The idea is that you can use it to trigger other percussion synths or samplers or whatever.

re: UK shirt deliveries - people on that side of the pond probably haven't noticed but our postal system has been blighted by ongoing strikes which will in all likelihood continue this week. there's already a 65-million-item backlog (srsly!) and things are gonna get worse before they get better. fingers crossed though, but if they actually don't start trickling in until long after this Thursday has passed nobody should be too surprised. just FYI.

Oh, right. Forgot about that. Just for the record, it's not that we didn't know about it. It's that we don't really care because it is, after all, not in the US. Or Canada or Mexico.

(Kidding, of course. I just forgot.)

CR - Not to be a pain but were there any T-shirt extras this time around? I suspect there are no more to be had but I would hate to assume and miss a chance to 1) Get a cool shirt and 2) Give you more of my money.

    Thank you, that is all.

Yeah same question here, any extra T-shirts lying around in Medium size?
