Yard Sale!
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
My friend Mike Fisher is selling his Roland SVC-350 vocoder. You know what it is already, so I won’t belabor the obvious with a description. If you don’t, there are about 200 demonstration videos on YouTube. I can personally vouch for both Mike and this unit, which is here in Phoenix. It has some cosmetic scratches and such from 20+ years of use, but Mike has owned it since 1989 and it has sat in his (annoyingly smoke free) studio since he purchased it. This unit was used on several Machines Of Loving Grace songs, if you’re the sort of person that cares about provenance.
He’d like to get $1200 for it plus shipping, and would prefer to sell to a U.S. buyer. If you’re interested, I have some high-resolution pictures I’d be happy to send you, and I can put you in touch with Mike. Drop me a line if you want to know more.

Machines of Loving Grace? That's a Richard Brautigan reference, right? I've read virtually all his novels, short stories and poetry.
I had heard of them before, listened to some stuff, years ago, maybe. Funny that by way of vst and audiodamage I shall come across them and the old hippie's words, once again. :-)
I was an extra in the "Butterfly Wings" video. I liked that song and "X-Insurrection". Ah, memories.
1200? Wow, i sold mine (which I have to say was in almost perfect nick) for half that a few years ago
I guess i shoulda waited.
Machines of Loving Grace! That was a damn fine band.
I think he's aiming a bit high at $1200. There are two on ebay right now for less than that, and in better condition.
The difference is that there is no risk with this one. It works perfectly, and I know it's sitting not 10 miles from here. Can you say that about the two on eBay?

Could I say for certain that the ones on eBay are a foolproof deal? Certainly not. However, let me say this about that, I have been an eBay member for nearly 11 years (joined in Jan. of '99). I have been involved in, I would guess, around 1000 transactions. I have bought and sold all manner of musical gear over the years and I could literally count my negative experiences on one hand. Those are good odds, in my opinion. Perhaps I've just been lucky?
the seller can ask whatever $$$$ he wants. sometimes the price is right 'enough' for someone.
if it's priced higher than market value and doesn't sell then seller can adjust his price if he feels like it.
some people don't want to deal with ebay/paypal etc and it's worth paying for that avoidance. such is life. like any other piece of merch.. the price is whatever the market will bear.
either way.. i don't see a need to moan about someone's asking price of XYZ piece of gear in their FS thread.
I'm with boobs.
Oh I certainly did not intend to seem like I was moaning about the price. I could not care less about the gear. I just happened to have eBay open on another tab when I read this post and I performed a quick search and the price seemed high. So be it. That is all.
@ZombieStomper
You gotta admit that was a social risk, right?
Walking into a thread where someone is trying to help a friend sell something? And then declaring the price too high? And then heralding eBay? And then saying that you don't have any particular investment in the discussion because you have no actual interest in the piece of equipment in question?
Maybe, upon reflection, you will find that these were not the smoothest moves you've made?
...one would hope?

Well, if we all had social aptitude, we probably wouldn't be working in the music industry. I think that's safe to say. ;-)

True, it was not a well thought out plan. I did not post with bad intentions, but I can see how it came out that way. I'm only a moron part time, I promise.
