Forgot to post this here. I put this up last Sunday, a bit of afternoon jamming. No DAW, no plug-ins. Just Analog Four and modular. I was trying to get a handle on the A4’s CV outputs, and it turned in to a reasonable track kind of on its own. Like they do.

Great jam CR! Makes me want to put an A4 in front of MY modular. Maybe I'll dig into it more frequently than I did the Octatrack...
Chris I remember you said, removing all of your "hi quality" recording gear and just using the motu to see where it takes you? Is this still the case?
"Removing" = sold. Yes. I just use the MOT Ultralite now. (Mk3 Hybrid). And I have one mic. I have very little gear now, for me. I suppose it's a lot of gear for lots of people. It still fills a whole room.

(I should mention that I'm seriously considering upgrading my MacBook Pro, and at that point, I may get one of the new UA interfaces. Just thought I'd mention that.)

This is wicked. It also highlights why I don't have this type of gear... because these are the jams I would want to do. But in all likelihood, I would just end up sampling it and putting it back into a DAW.
Thanks for posting. Very inspirational.
that is all kinds of awesome - both sonically and jamZ-wise. Nice stuff! You make it look... easy-ish. Looks are deceiving. I think if I got myself a modular I'd grow old in front of it looking for sounds... :) Maybe one day... and the A4 continues to impress me.
I like these vids. Been trying to do as much improvisational piano playing lately (something I never did much of until this year), and so anything like this is inspiring.
Anyway, sorry to go way OT here, but I've also come in need of a recommendation for a contact mic for a piano.
CR, I recall you taking about the Barcus Berry on here a while ago... any thoughts on that? Anyone else have one they've liked or had good results with?
I like that mic quite a bit, but I've never used it on piano. Since I have a CP-80B I don't really need it. I'll give it a whirl today, though, and report back.

Very nice jam. I've got an A4 as well, but I am having a little trouble getting it to play nice in my vision of things.
How much of the sound here was the A4 and how much was the modular? I haven't gotten around to futzing with the CV tracks yet, but maybe I should make that a priority.
It's kind of hard to tell; in the beginning there are two foots: one that is kind of low and knocky, and the other that is obviously FM. The FM one is coming from the A4 and the knocky one is coming from the modular. They have similar, but slightly different, patterns. Watching the envelope lights on the modular will show you which is which.
And then, at 2:23, I unmute what is, on the A4, the FX note pattern. This is actually driving the Ren? on the modular, and you can immediately hear that little pattern, which is a higher-pitched bippity-bip thing.
Interesting note: no oscillators were used on the modular. The foot is the Doepfer SEM filter self-oscillating, and the bippity-bip thing is the Harvestman Polyvoks filter self-oscillating.
