99 Cent Condensor Mic? Sure, why not?
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.

I could see buying, like, 50 of these and placing them all over my house. Mic: 99 cents. Cable loom: $4500. Anyways, Go forth. I’m sure they’re fantastic.

they sound pretty niiice..
I have seen this on GS.
the mic is 99 cents and you need a spacial cable for it which cost 4500$ ?
i dont want to know how much a shockmount should cost.
man... talk about expenssive accesories.... :)
Does anyone know where you can buy these? I can think of some serious "creative applications."
now you can tell someone to shove that f***ing mic up his ass,
and he can accualy do it :P
i dont know about needing a $4500 cable...
we have 10 of the mics. and we just used a regular xlr. you can use the clip of an km184 to hold the xlr.
Didn't I say "loom" clear enough? As in "placing 50 of these mics all over my house, I'd need to loom the whole house with XLR." I don't know why that's such a difficult concept to understand. I could, of course, use Hosa cables and cut costs.

musicians friend makes a 50 ft for 9 dollars!
Oh, thank you baby Jesus! My wish can come true now. If I only had bouncing happy face emoticons in the replies, I could express my true joy at becoming informed.
Just FYI, the signal:noise on this site is so high because I bounce people for stupid posts like that. If I say something that seems ludicrous, it's probably because I'm being sarcastic. Like, for instance: "hey, I think I'll buy $4500 worth of Mogami cable to run to these little 99 cent mics." You know. Stuff like that. And generally, when you reply to something like that with, e.g., "we have 10 of the mics. and we just used a regular xlr. you can use the clip of an km184 to hold the xlr" you're not actually imparting information, but proving that you don't pay attention very well.
Think before you "save" else you just look like a fucktard.

...well I *think* anthony was being ironic, viz-a-viz your rant about MF earlier... If seen in that light it was "mildly amusing", no?
Oh OK.... NO!
I know the second one was a lame attempt at humor, but in my opinion, if you can't tell, it isn't fucking funny. It's just stupid.

hunch: some of your readers are from overseas and may have missed some of that. sayin
Where's the info on this mic? I can't find it on their site.
where do we buy them? maybe it's just my computer but that "where to buy" map keeps giving me error messages for every state i click on
There doesn't seem to be a place to buy them on the site. I also have not been able to get the dealer locator to work on two different computers now. I will buy a few as trash mics for sure.
i think they're selling human hair by the micron.
Ooh! Ooh, I want one!
...I'm sure the quality will be good enough to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with ;P
I could have a lot of fun with these. I recently brought up the idea of triggering samples for our live show, which was greated more enthusiastically than I expected, honestly. We play really hard, raunchy Southern rock (mix to taste with metal, Delta blues, and you know, my laptop) and our singer's got some great angsty girl-done-me-wrong songs... he volunteered to let me bug his house and record him picking a fight with his girlfriend... without telling her first, of course (his idea! blame any ensuing arson or whatnot on his ass)... to trigger at the start of a particularly anti-relationship song.
These would be perrrrrrrfect for that gig.
i want eight of them.
this way i can mic up a leslie in surround _inside_ the fucker and have a breakout box for all those gigs with quad PA that i play at.
or maybe i'll just mic up two leslies in stereo. for eight dollars.
so does anyone know where we can order some? I want about 20 right now. I want to make a set of elecctric maracas, and after that I'm sure i'll find uses for the rest.
