Would you like extra stink with that?
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
Watch what happens when a ringer (e.g. Sly And The Family Stone) enters a talent contest (e.g. the 1968 Ohio State Fair.) Basically, they win. I’ve worked production at things like this dozens of times, but I’ve never seen a Sly-quality band win. Usually, it’s a 12-year-old that has memorized “Moonlight Sonata.”

though i prefer the coke-addled solo sly of "riot", i must say that was fucking awesome!!!
on a side note:
"that's some groovy bread!"
did that guy really say that?? what a square!!
I really think it was the dance moves that pushed them over the top.
BTW — 10 large IS groovy bread!
Oh. Man! That's so groovy I think I passed out for a couple of seconds...
Oh yeah...come on!
All we need is a drummer, for people who only need a beat...
That's it! I'm giving up music now.
Nothing I could ever do could be one percent as great as that.
Q: How do you stop the spread of AIDS?
A: Give it a recording contract from TVT.
Yeah, way off topic, but I'm drunk now.
God damn that was HOT! Wish I had been around to see them live.
You could probably buy a Cadillac with $10,000 of "groovy bread" back then.
i'm digging the silverface twin reverb and bassman-head.
not digging the fact that they didn't mic the Rhodes' awesome suitcase speakers. probably sounded great in the crowd, but we can't hear it
:-(
