Industry Kudos, Take Two...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
The issue with the announcements just showed up in the mail, so I guess we don’t have to keep mum any more. We’re pleased to announce that Discord 2 won a 2007 Editor’s Choice award from Electronic Musician Magazine. ’Tis the season for these sorts of things, I guess. It’s worth mentioning that we’ve never advertised in either Remix or EM, and I sent review copies of the plugins only grudgingly.
It’s also worth noting that the runner-up in the category that Discord 2 won in is Cycling ’74’s “M” aleatoric software. This is funny on three different levels:
1. “M” is one of my favoritest pieces of software ever, so it’s kind of unnerving.
2. Both Adam and I worked for Cycling ’74. (This is, in a roundabout way, how we met.)
3. “M” was originally released like 17-odd years ago, and is intrinsically the same as when it first came out.
In any case, thanks to EM for dropping the glassie in our laps. I’ll be at the awards reception at NAMM, and if given a microphone, will no doubt extemporize at length vis-a-vis my opinion of our little industry. That should be amusing.
