Spent the day twiddling my thumbs while test-rendering the UI for Vapor, the third and final effect in our Series Of Three Mod Effects For $29.00 Each. Just a couple little things to touch up and and what-not, and I’ll put up a glamor shot and a brief explanation of what it does, probably tomorrow or something. This UI isn’t any more sophisticated than the other two, really, but there’s one little addition that uses a material that takes some time to render, so instead of 30 seconds a frame, it’s more like 7 minutes. So a lot of sitting around listening to music today.
Adam, meanwhile, is working on the DSP for Vapor. It’s pretty much where we want it to be, sound-wise, though. Liquid was a through-zero flanger, and Fluid was a more-or-less standard chorus, so it’s easy to explain what they’re about. Vapor, however, is something of our own design, with hardly any touchstones that most people will be immediately familiar with. This poses a bit of a marketing problem, but not drastically so. I mean, with Fluid we can say “it’s a chorus,” and you kind of have an idea of what it’s gonna do. With Vapor, that’s gonna be a bit more problematic. Once I put up samples and such, I’m sure regular readers/customers will have some insight in to the issue, and I don’t expect it to be too difficult. I look at it as a challenge rather than a setback, anyways.
In other news, the T-shirts will be here in the office on Thursday. We’ll send out all the freebies to friends and peers on Friday, and probably put them up for sale on Monday. They will be $20 plus shipping (yet to be determined), as I believe I mentioned previously.
