Open Letter To New Blogger Dude...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
Dear New Blogger Dude:
Just because you purchased and summarily read a “How To Get Rich On The Internet Without Getting Your Dorito-Fattened Ass Off The Couch” PDF doesn’t necessarily mean you’re actually going to do the self-same. Let me tell you where you’re going wrong:
1. Writing people like me and saying “hey, let’s do a link exchange” is pointless when you have nothing to actually link to. It’s even more pointless when…
2. Your page is just a Google ad farm. The internet is like a pond, see? There’s some clear blue water in there comprising actual information. If you make a blog simply to farm ads, you’re the scum. The pond scum, that is. The shit on top that obfuscates the clear blue water below. Why on earth would I actually send these readers to some dumb-ass ad farm?
3. You’re never going to see that $5000-a-month check from Google. Seriously. Get a job. The people that see that check are the people that have actual information on their sites, and even then, it’s a rare thing.
So, new blogger dude, please don’t write me. If you have to ask for links back to your site, or “trade” them as the patois goes, then your site is a big fat fucking waste of time for everybody.

Sadly, none of the would-be get-rich-quick bloggers will actually read this post.
(sigh.)

I just put it up so I could send them a link, rather than writing my usual detailed, thoughtful replies, in which I expound on the above views at some length.

Blinkman your wrong..Im forever trying to get rich quick and I read this shit like the Bible.
Every now and then I'll put usefullness on it. But no i didn't get rich.
Can I at least leave a "me too" comment and link to my lame site?
Unfortunately people are making plenty of money with ads ($1k-3k/mo) by just reposting other folks content on their blogs. It happens across multiple industries/interests not just the music scene. Thankfully we have entertaining <1 post per day blogs like Analog Industries where the focus is on conversation via comments and not quantity of posts.
leave doritos out of this
ha, i thought u were ranting at me lol. got me all defensive for a moment, my name being dude and all. there's at least two jackasses on the internet named dude now ;) i'm not a narcissist i fucking swear it! now it's time for me to get back to work on that 'get rich quick scheme' i has been dreamin' bout...
