Best... Band... Ever...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
Their Awesome Flagon is full to the brim with Victory. Words cannot express how frakkin’ awesome this band is. The real money starts at two minutes. I dare you.

Jeez! I only made it 0:37.
wow, i'd forgotten how funny that shit is! can't hear that song without thinking of Gob from Arrested Development. nice.
I made it all the way through to 3:43! Do I have the high score?
Best band ever? Shit, best singer ever. Have you considered calling him up to do the vocals for RT60 for you?
At 0:20 it reminded me of too many Finnish summer festivals starring post-idols headliners and had to press "stop" and laugh "a bit". It's not actually Marilyn Manson, to be exact. :-D
Then curiosity won me over and I continued. To my surprise, I noticed that the singer reminds me a lot of Apulanta, a Finnish rock group kept together by ProTools and tons of (timing and tuning) plugins. In the studio the lead vocalist sings like a bunch of... well, anyone after heavy editing and tuning - but live... actually, it would benefit from a series of pauses pasted together in a continuing line.
Again, a priceless link. Thank you, sir. :-D
I've made a huge mistake .
I couldn't look away or stop it. God knows I should've.
I love how the singer totally dominates the stage with his moves.
That's Robert Henke's side project.
See that Mr. New Blogger? This is how you build a motherfuckin' brand!
But seriously, why won't this video die? I hurts me. So much.
Shit Sandwich
Fuckin' classic! Spat my beer across the room...
Good God. My bum cheeks were squeaking all the way through the stylophone intro- hell, even I can play that, and I suck- BUT THEN the 'singing' started- the sound of a cat trying to crap through a sewn-up arse- AND THEN the guitar solo...
I wonder who told these guys they were good enough to come out of the basement and inflict themselves on innocent children? There ought to be a law or something.
it's all about stage presence and this guy stalks the mid stage like a caged panther. the keyboard sound selection is beyond words. in an age where most synths have a preset called, "countdown" or "final lead" he has really taken his own path. truly, bravo and thanks for sharing.
I think the guy walking across the frame at 1:45 makes it. The look on his face says it all.
Ok that guitar solo sent me to a very dark place
Please i promise to be good! make it go away!
that hurts. though i really like the way the stage is supported by those pallets, just asking for a catastrophic fail video.
:#
I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are either:
a.) 12 year olds starting their first band and could only find 1 kid in the class brave enough to be a front man
or
b.) they are sketch comedians or performance artists promoting their uber-hipster improv troupe via viral video.
Well, at least they're trying, and they can only get better. I could do without the jewel heist costumes, though.
Asperger's ?
You know that horrible sound when you drag your fingers across a chalk board? If they replaced the audio from this video with that sound, it would be an improvement.
At first I thought their name was Flagon. That would have made it so much more worthwhile....
(And why would you advertise the fact that nobody's watching by showing the giant swath of empty grass in front of the stage? Framing, people, framing.)
Oh man... I haven't seen this in awhile.
I'm going to go shove sharpened pencils through my eardrums now so I never have to listen to this again.
My favorite thing of all is how the little kid in the very beginning totally runs away when they start playing.
Also, watch the bass player. He's only playing the E string. Fucking awesome.

CR,
Congratulations - my wife just pissed herself laughing.
Epic win :)
All the best,
EMS.
awesome band is awesome
The only thing that could possibly improve this is a keytar.
Aside from the keyboard timbre, does anyone agree with me that the worst part of this is the singer? The rest of the band should fire him. Maybe they can't because they use his parents rec room for practice sessions?

This one's been floating around for a while, and yes, painful.
I must admit, it inspired me/my cover band to take a crack at Final Countdown for the sake of pure comedy (I PROMISE we did a far better job), but I tremendously overestimated the humor/irony level of our Huntington Beach audience, thus it hit the ground with a thud when no one got the joke.
(you'd think I'd know better- these are people who get extremely excited when we play "Livin' On A Prayer" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" whilst I silently puke in my mouth a little)
SOLID GOLD that is!!!!!! The keyboards are the best part for sure, but you gotta love that singer esp. the pocket-pool stage presence.
It Zee Fi-naal Coun-Dooooooown!!!
Is there some way to make their sound into a plug-in?
For me this becomes some sort of meta awareness-thing. On one hand, a band that are so totally without talent but still giving - ehem - their best. Damn, it's shitty, but this kind of stuff make me feel like I am a total musical genius. You have to know where the bottom is, sort of thing. But it also goes in the other way. As a journalist believing that I have some - however distant - grip on words, I decided to write a book. The whole project were quite pleasant until I started reading Orwells 1984. Then I realized that I have nothing whatsoever to contribute with. And this was ten pages into the bloody book.
On the other hand. If you are totally ignorant/have no sense of your quality - isn't it that you also shield yourself from your own sometimes too hard critisims? When I started writing lyrics ten years ago, they were shit. And at that time I also knew how totally shit they were - but I worked through the shit until I found my own style. Now, at my best, I can be totally brilliant. Obviously - I would not be where I am today without going through the shit.
But that's me.
The singer sounds like Bruno.
I love the grizzled sound engineer who comes on at 1:18 to check if the awful din coming out of one of the amps is really as awful as it sounded on his headphones.
I am so going to start an early music influenced indy rock band named "Their Awesome Flagon". crumbhorn solo!
"Their Awesome Flagon" is indeed a band name of champions. In time, it could be shortened by hardened fans to "Flagon" and would still be right / wrong somehow.
Next thing you know, you could be on the bill with Spriguns Of Tolgus.
;-)
EMS.
Flagon's signature cover song, Final Countdown on Hurdygurdy, bass recorder and crumb horn will own!
I agree with Adam that the worst part is the singer, hands-down. And the worst part of his performance? He sings the delays. Badly.
I like that the bass and guitar have their own independent definition of 440 Hz. Brian Eno would say that it was an intentional effect.
The singer reminds me of a truly tone-deaf guy I knew in college, who sang for several bands. One time, we were listening to some music, and I mentioned that the trumpet was out of tune. He didn't understand what that meant, and I tried to explain the concept of an instrument being in tune with other instruments. It eventually got to him asking "do you mean that the trumpet is more 'up', or more 'down?'" I gave up at that point.
The keyboards are awesome, with no irony intended. I hated the melody in its pretentious pseudo-brass ensemble original form, but love it played on a cheesy Tex-Mex Farfisa sound. If the singer had only changed the lyrics from "It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN!" to a sneering "It's the final countdown, GIRL!" then it would have been a perfect garage performance. Oh, and remove all bass content from the guitar, leaving only a spitty mosquito fuzz.
Autotune commercial in the making.
when the next concert take place ? :p
omg the music is a midi file ...
