Man, my mom cracks me the fuck up. I go over to her house today, and she presents me with a Casio CTK-411, which is your typical home keyboard drum-n-chords magical music machine. Now, I have to preface this with a…
I almost can't wait until Hardcore Gear Porn Friday, because I have a special feature. An unknown person provided me with pictures of the most ludicrous modular synth setup you'll ever see. The problem with putting…
I'll readily admit that I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to sound-generating equipment. I'll happily spend 3 hours trying to get an SE30 running UpBeat to sync with my main Nuendo box, so I can get it to make…
Dangerous will be releasing this bad boy at AES; it's called Monitor. There will be two parts, the Monitor ST (which is stereo), and the add-on Monitor SR (which makes it surround.) It has the most bad-assest of all…
Here's something worth talking about, right here. A fellow on the OSX Audio newsgroup posted a letter he received from Sony, as follows: The current versions of the Oxford plugins for the Powercore platform, (EQ…
Okay, all heated debates about the relative merits of various summing mixers (or lack thereof) aside, here's the first glamour shot of the new Neve box, and I'm sorry, but that shit looks fine. Here is the full-size…
Ebay has been alerted, and this will almost certainly be taken down, so get it while you can. This auction is some yahoo-address-having fraudster basically re-auctioning this beautiful Jupiter 8. Check the pics. The…
Just kill me now. I came across this rig today, and since it is still Friday, I figured we'd go for the double whammy. This Serge/Doepfer/MOTM modular belongs to one John Duval, who is apparently one half of the…
Yup, it's Friday, and that can mean only one thing: hardcore gear pr0n. Now, I don't know if this place is even still around, but I've slobbered over this guy's collection, monikered the Audio Playground Synthesizer…
I've now figured out how to take advantage of the marketing hype, depsite the fact that our DSP, by and large, contains little that is tube-like. I'm going to put a small window in all future UIs, where you can see the…
My feelings on tubes have been posted here and other forums enough to where you have probably got a good idea of my maxim: if there's a window so you can see the tube, the tube's inclusion in the product is as a gimmick…
...which makes it banner headlines here at Analog Industries! This site has a rather extensive list of quite a few home and toy keyboards, and how their sound is generated. Handy to know which of these is "analog," and…
I don't know what it says, but I'm sure it's very polite. "Look what these gai-jin put together. Maybe they aren't so stupid after all." Go there and see for yourself.
I've got an odd question. Is anyone aware of a VSTi or AU instrument that emulates the GameBoy audio hardware? And I don't mean some dumb-ass SynthEdit sample-fest, either; I mean a VSTi that uses the audio engine from…
Sorry I didn't post anything on Monday, but I was busy as all get-out. Finished up a contract job for \[ redacted \], then actually made my otherwise quite-powerful PC (AMD64, doncha know?) whimper like a little girl…
